SUSTAINABILITY

The position of this gorgeous home in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, is in zone 2 of the Australian Climate Zones. This zone has warm summers and mild winters. It is important to design a house that is aimed to keep the residents thermally comfortable with minimal to zero secondary heating or cooling. Thinking of passive design ideologies this house works in accordance to its surrounding climate.

This site allows for exposure to cooling breezes and a design that encapsulates the element of cross-ventilation. All windows are 100% openable with both louvres and casement windows being installed. The house has been provided with ceiling fans in all living spaces as well as a fire place for cooler winter nights and days. The sustainability of this dwelling meets the standard of the Australian Government Guidelines to passive design and will allow the occupants to live in a sustainable and comfortable living space, which has little need of secondary heating or cooling. This reducing the new resident’s electricity bills as well as doing its part in reducing the climates energy use.
